Blancaneaux Lodge was purchased by Francis Ford Coppola after his visit to Belize in the 1980s. He fell in love with the location, and purchased the abandoned lodge. After more than a decade, during which the resort was used as a family retreat, Francis opened this tropical paradise to the public in 1993 as a 20-room luxury resort. It is located in a pocket of the Maya Mountains, where waterfalls flow into turquoise pools above the jungle canopy.
